What sort of books are you looking for?
Contemporary Fiction, Sci Fi, Mystery, Popular History, and Memoir, as well books about Feminism, Ethnic Studies, Social Justice, Social Science, and of course, LGBTQ+ titles.
We also buy Poetry, Plays, and Graphic Novels, as well as books on Self-Help, Music, Religion, the Arts, Cooking, Gardening, and Science, but very selectively.
What won’t you buy?
Romances, Text Books, Computer Manuals, Hardcover Mysteries, Dated Travel Guides, books on Sports, Business, or Military History, Kids’ books, Books on Tape, Books in languages other than English, French, or Spanish.
Do you pay for books in cash or store credit?
Usually store credit (aka “Trade") but for one-of-a-kind collectibles or current best-sellers we might offer cash. Credit is good for anything in the store. If you take store credit for cash books you get 50% more. What we pay is based on books’ current cover price and condition. We pay competitively with other used book stores.
Will you buy books at my house?
Maybe. Depends how far away you are.
What can I do with the books you can't buy?
Please take them home with you or drop them in our free bin outside the door.
Will you buy my self-published masterpiece?
We have a hard time selling self-published books, so it's unlikely.
Will you buy my zine or chapbook?
We're happy to consider it, especially if it's produced locally or has an LGBTQ+ focus, but we can't promise anything.
Anything else I should know?
If you want cash for your books bring either a driver’s license, state ID, or passport. No exceptions; it's the law!
If you bring us a lot of books that are collectable we may need to keep them overnight so we can do some research on their value. We want to pay you what your books are worth!
